THE BMX TRACK

"First of its kind in the UK"
Based at Knowsley Leisure and Culture Park in Huyton, Liverpool, the 400m velodrome has a 7m cycle track and the BMX track built to a national standard that includes a pump track. The BMX track built by Clark & Kent Contractors in 2012, is the first of its kind in the UK and only the second in Europe.
The Knowsley BMX track at Huyton is constructed within a tarmac 400-metre outdoor velodrome that incorporates a 160-metre pump track for learners and beginner riders. Other services include extensive power and water points, a Bensink starting gate, a BMX rider pens area, and a tarmac area reserved for the Velodrome riders.

The velodrome and BMX track construction was funded by NHS Knowsley, Sports England and British Cycling. Prescot Eagles Road Club and Liverpool Century were consulted in developing the velodrome and BMX track.
